My dogs love ice cream as much as I do, and Purina makes a puppy ice cream called Frosty Paws. I've bought it for my dogs in both original and peanut butter flavors. In my area, a pack of 4 costs $4-5, which adds up when you have more than one dog eating them!. I still occasionally buy these as a treat if they are on sale, because my pups love them.
My solution for more frequent, less expensive, and healthier frozen treats was to go to the dollar store and buy small containers that I then fill with diluted unsalted chicken broth. I usually do about a 50/50 mixture of broth and water, and freeze them for at least several hours. I use water to dilute the treat because it also lowers the calories since broth does have calories, but I've also made these with just broth in the past. I used to use lower sodium broth, but recently found unsalted chicken broth and have been using that instead. My dogs love beef broth, too, so I use beef broth sometimes, too.
Sometimes, once the mixture is partially frozen and more like a slushie, I add one or two of the 3 Ingredient Canine Cookies down inside the container for an added surprise treat. I've also added mini milkbones, and veggies like chunks of steamed sweet potato, chopped raw carrots, and steamed green beans. The containers are re-usable and this frozen treat will cool off the pups for less than $0.35 each!
